MODERN MATERIALS
The construction industry is constantly searching for new materials. Among such construction materials there are composites.
The Department of Transport Facilities and Cement Concrete Structures of the State Research Institute has been dealing with the issues of composite materials for years, studying, in particular, fiber and reinforcement. As a result of this work, a number of normative documents were developed, in particular:
DSTU B V.2.7-312: 2016 Nonmetallic composite basalt periodical profile reinforcement. General technical specifications
SOU 42.1-37641918-091: 2013 Construction materials. Road concrete reinforced with basalt fiber. General technical requirements and others.
Among the advantages of non-metallic composite basalt reinforcement, as compared to traditional steel reinforcement, it should be noted:
higher tensile strength,
non-thermal conductivity,
dielectricity,
more than three times less weight.
Concrete for road pavement, reinforced with basalt fiber, has better performance compared to concrete without reinforcement: the tensile strength of fiber-reinforced concrete increases up to 33% compared to fiber-free concrete; the abradability of fiber-reinforced concrete increases up to 13% compared to fiber-free concrete; basalt fiber in concrete does not cause corrosion of metal reinforcement and meets the requirements for concrete structures with nonstressed steel reinforcement.
Stakeholders (manufacturers, designers, contractors) are brought together to solve the issues related to composites. In particular, the First Ukrainian Composite Ukraine Conference took place in Grand Admiral Resort. The conference was designed to bring together stakeholders from different fields such as construction, transportation and storage of materials, mechanical engineering, aircraft construction. By the speakers, great attention was paid to the problem of absence of normative documents for the possibility of using composites in this or that field.
But in the construction of transport structures, there are significant developments in terms of regulatory support for the construction of transport facilities using composite fiber, reinforcement, about what in his report "Normalization of the use of basalt fiber and non-metallic composite basalt reinforcement of concrete structures of transport structures" noted the Head of the Ddepartment of Transport Facilities and Cement Concrete Sstructures of the State Enterprise "DerzhdorNDI" Ihor Babyak.
Also, in his report, he highlighted the issues of technical requirements that should be met by non-metallic composite basalt reinforcement, basalt fiber, as well as road concrete reinforced with basalt fiber, gave the results of improving the characteristics of road concrete reinforced with basalt fiber compared to concrete without fiber, summed up the prospects of non-metallic composite basalt reinforcement and basalt fiber in the construction of transport facilities.
If it is necessary to implement non-metallic composite basalt reinforcement at your facilities, you can order scientific and technical support of construction, please contact the Head of Ddepartment, Ihor Babyak, tel. +38 044 201 08 73, e-mail: igorbabyak@meta.ua.
