RESULTS OF 2020

The past year has been ambiguous.

On the one hand, it was very difficult - the whole world faced serious challenges: the coronavirus crisis, protests, catastrophes, troubles, losses…

But on the other hand...

This year has become a revolutionary year for the road industry of Ukraine - a year of records and victories:

the largest number of kilometers of roads was built and repaired in the period of Independence of Ukraine;
the road industry we received record funding in protection of the economy from the crisis, generating a multiplier effect;
the prestige of engineering specialties rose, as finally road workers started to get a decent salary.

And the most important- Citizens of Ukraine in all corners of Ukraine felt what it means to move on quality roads.

This year was also revolutionary for our “DerzhdorNDI” SE team. Our staff thanks to its effective and coordinated work has achieved incredible results:

For the first time, according to their own scientific methodology, they have prioritized the objects “Big Construction” National Program updating the Road Development Program.
The Bridge Restoration Program and the Cement Concrete Road Construction Program had been developed.
Participation in the development of the tender methodology, thanks to which the unified rules of activity were formed on the road market.
By the order of Ministry of Regional Development, the amendments were prepared to the pricing system not for the road industry only, but also for the entire construction sphere.

Contributed to improving of design documents quality:

providing scientific and technical support of road construction objects and introduction of modern materials and technologies:
soil stabilizers;
fiberglass reinforcement for cement concrete;
strengthening walls made of ready cement-concrete blocks;
WHITE TOPPING;
rolled compacted concrete;
waterproofing for concrete pavements;
rubblizing ;
solid construction bridges;
corrugated metal structures.

Considering all designing decisions (from this year also the current mid-term repair) in the framework of Section 5, based on the Institute activity.

-Created an Innovation Portal accessible to everyone.

-Number of bridges were inspected and tested.

-Regulatory framework was updated:

state construction norms for the designing and construction of roads;
national standards for the following:
maintenance of road bridges;
methods for measuring of environmental parameters and requirements for environmental impact evaluation in the projects;
test methods for non-metallic composite fittings;
technical requirements for traffic delay means;
technical specifications for metallurgical slag in the road industry.

Thanks to modern information technologies, we organized and presented our scientific achievements at 24 events, and our specialists reported at 58 events!

Practical manuals on actual road topics have been developed for industry specialists:

Handbook of the roads of future;

GREENbook regarding construction of roads with cement-concrete pavement;
GREENbook regarding the road maintenance.
TWO “Collection of Scientific Papers “Roads and Bridges” were prepared and published online that meets the highest standards of scientific publications in Ukraine.
Personnel Certification Body was created and passed its accreditation in the National Accreditation Agency of Ukraine.
For storage of the Institutional memory of the road industry, we created “Outstanding Scientists” page on our website, which introduced the scientists of our Institute who have made a significant contribution to the development of the road industry.

All these and other achievements were possible thanks to the coordinated work of our powerful scientific team only, which consists of more than 160 employees.

The average age of our team is about 40 years, it is a harmonious combination of perseverance and hard work of young people and the wisdom and experience of older colleagues.

Together we have done everything to make it prestigious, profitable and comfortable to work at our Institute.

In 2020 we succeeded the following:

to perform the record volumes of work in the history of the Institute;
to increase significantly the level of salaries of employees;
to provide health insurance for employees;
to arrange effective work in remote mode by introducing online task tables for each unit and the system E - business trip;
to hold a contest “Scientists Rating”, where the three best scientists of the Institute were identified with the appropriate financial incentives;
to open an access to the electronic database of scientific articles, which includes more than 1000 articles in various fields and works online 24/7;
to purchase new and modern fixed assets at the Institute's own working capital:
to purchase “Ford-Transit” Combi vehicle;
to purchase the device for measuring the evenness of the road pavement of the 2^nd class of accuracy according to the IRI index;
to purchase a dynamic deflector for determination of pavement strength;;
to purchase new sampling devices and other equipment.
to introduce an access to the building of Institute by electronic passes, GPS trackers were installed on the Institute's vehicles, and DVR Cameras were installed in the production and laboratory premises.

We strictly adhere to the safety measures related to COVID-19 - antiseptic dispensers were installed at the entrance and on each floor, temperature screening and disinfection of the premises is carried out twice a day.

We are sincerely grateful to each of our employees for excellent work, sometimes sleepless nights, work on the road facilities during weekends and holidays. Your contribution to the development of the road industry is already tangible to every road user.

We bring thanks to all of our colleagues and partners for their common work. We are confident that our industry is only gaining momentum and we will show greater productivity and efficiency in the coming road construction seasons!
