BUSINESS TRIP TO GEORGIA
Artem Bezugly, Director of “DerzhdorNDI” SE and Volodymyr Kaskiv, Deputy Director of the Institute currently are on a business trip in Georgia. The possibilities of using ash and slag materials in road construction are being studied together with colleagues.
Ash and slag materials are a profitable alternative to natural materials for road construction, which help to increase the environmental safety and reduce the cost of construction.
A pilot project has been already launched in Ukraine with the appropriate scientific support of the Institute's team, which involves use of ash and slag materials from DTEK Burshtyn Heat Power Plant on the O090301 Bilshivtsi - Kniagynychi road section km 3 + 799 - km 6 + 299 in Ivano-Frankivsk region.
According to the project documentation, the design of the pavement involves use of fly ash in all layers of pavement: dry ash as a 100% replacement of the filler in the asphalt mixture, wet ash – for replacement of 30% of fine fraction in crushed stone and sand mixture both, as reinforced with cement, and also without binder.
The exchange of experience with our colleagues will contribute to the improvement of the regulatory framework and wider of introducing the ash and slag materials practice in road construction in Ukraine.
